R2AK, 6/27, 7pm

June 27, 2016

I don’t think there’s much risk in predicting that, unless they have some distaster, Mad Dog will win the 2nd R2AK in record time.  31 hours after the start from Victoria they are over half way to Ketchikan.  They are 7 hours ahead of 2nd place Jungle Kitty.  They are near the NW end of Johnstone Strait in a good breeze making 6.7 knots while the rest of the competitors are back in/around the Strait of Georgia in light breezes moving at under 3 knots.  Like last year, the leading team has an insurmountable lead and should finish long before the 2nd place boat (unless they run into some unforeseen disaster).
